How long is a piece of string ?

That is a problem that has amazed, and befuddled the worlds greatest thinkers and philosophers. It may well, even have perplexed Archimedes, that is , what i s the exact length of a piece of corded hemp ? (aka nowadays as string)

The answer is a simple one and was found by myself and a friend of mine who were idly chewing the fat. He remarked about his mothers constant answer to any question made of her, which was " How long is a piece of string.." So we set to and worked out the answer to the question

The answer to the question " how long is a piece of string" is as follows - The length of a piece of string can be defined by the number of units that make up the total length. One string unit ( 1SU) has been defined as 42inches ( the exact length of a Christmas card hanger) . So, as we had the first part of the formula, ( that is 1 SU )then the rest was plain sailing. The whole formula is as follows :-

?SU ( where ? is the estimated number of string units) X 42(inches)

So if for example an item was 2SU then following the formula - 2SUx42ins = 84 inches

So, there we have it the answer to that immortal question how long is a piece of string is merely a simple formula ?SUx42 (ins)
